RBC Wealth Management Hosts 20th Industry Conference for Women
MINNEAPOLIS (September 10, 2012) – With a theme to “Plan For Your Best Year Ever,” RBC Wealth Management will sponsor the 20th Women’s Association of Financial Advisors (WAFA) conference on September 13 – 15 at the Westin Edina Galleria in Minneapolis. More than 100 female Financial Advisors and Private Bankers from across the United States will travel to Minneapolis to participate in this unique developmental conference.
The WAFA is RBC WM’s resource group for its female advisors. The company sponsors this conference annually giving participants the opportunity to attend sales and marketing sessions and learn new business-building techniques. Attendees are able to network with their peers, share ideas and create long-lasting professional relationships. Each year, attendees report an increase in productivity after implementing the ideas and strategies learned at the conference.
“Increasing the number of female Financial Advisors is important to RBC Wealth Management’s long-term growth strategy. The WAFA conference is one example of how the company supports their business success,” said Mary Zimmer, Head International Wealth-USA and Correspondent and Advisor Services as well as executive sponsor of the WAFA. “This conference is an excellent forum to share ideas and learn from peers to help women grow their business.”
Diversity and inclusion is one of RBC’s core values that has become an integral part of the company’s culture and is embedded in the business model. As a corporate steward, RBC helps to advance women in the community. This year, the WAFA conference attendees will pack an extra business suit to donate to Tubman, a local organization that provides job-readiness education and professional training to help disadvantaged women thrive in work and life.
RBC WM has a long history of cultivating an environment that supports women. The WAFA was formed in 1991 by a group of forward-thinking women who sought to connect the firm’s female advisors from across the country. Today, there are more than 200 Financial Advisors who are active members of the WAFA.
