MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 5, 2010) – RBC Wealth Management announces that Mary Zimmer, head of Primary Advisor Services, has been selected as one of the "Top 50 Women in Wealth Management" in an annual list from Wealth Manager magazine.

"We are extremely proud of this well-deserved recognition for Mary," said John Taft, CEO of RBC U.S. Wealth Management. "Mary has an extensive track record for executive leadership on significant initiatives - such as heading up the firm’s product and business development groups, partnering with RBC Capital Markets and other RBC businesses on product development and distribution, and her extensive work with diversity-related issues."

A 25 year industry veteran, Zimmer was named head of Primary Advisor Services in 2006. She has been working at RBC Wealth Management since 1994 and has held a number of positions within the firm, including chief operating officer, chief administrative officer, and director of Global Equity Finance and Administration at RBC Capital Markets.

In addition to her current position, Zimmer is passionate about leveraging her role as an executive leader to spearhead diversity efforts within RBC Wealth Management, the industry and the community. She is a member of RBC’s Diversity Council, executive sponsor of RBC Wealth Management’s Diversity Leadership Council, executive sponsor and very active in the Women’s Association of Financial Consultants (WAFC), co-leader of the RBC Women and Visible Minorities Strategy Team, and mentor in the Reciprocal Mentoring/Diversity Dialogues Program. She is also instrumental in the development and implementation of the firm’s women’s growth strategy.

Zimmer was also recently named to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation Board of Directors. As part of this appointment, she will also serve as a member of the SIFMA Foundation Board Marketing and Public Relations Committee.

"Women have a great deal to offer as wealth managers, and clients realize and appreciate this," said Kate McBride, editor in chief of Wealth Manager. “It's very exciting to watch more and more women take on senior roles in the industry, making important contributions, both in advisory and executive roles; in academia and in Washington. These leaders are the ones we look to for guidance, and we salute them.”
