The Price of Water Scarcity

The fresh water crisis is making our blue planet thirsty. From drought in California to the unavailability of clean, secure fresh water in many developing regions, urgent water issues are spilling over. But while this is a global crisis, it is critical to approach solutions locally.

Thursday, June 4, is RBC Blue Water Day. This is the one day every year when RBC employees around the world come together to support a single cause – the preservation and protection of the world’s most precious natural resource: fresh water. Across the globe, we join together and show our support by wearing blue and participating in community makeovers.

Launched in 2007, the RBC Blue Water Project is our 10-year global commitment of $50 million to help protect fresh water resources. Now past the halfway point, we are supporting initiatives that help protect and preserve water in towns, cities and urbanized areas, aiming to fund programs that improve urban water quality, enhance storm water management and restore urban waterways.

Last year, 20,000 employees globally participated in 751 community makeovers. In the United States more than 500 RBC Wealth Management employees participated in 32 makeovers.

To help investors understand how to approach water trends, the RBC Wealth Management Portfolio Advisory Group has also published a special edition of its Global Insight publication titled The Price of Water Scarcity. To request a copy of the report please contact your RBC Wealth Management financial advisor or use the advisor locator tool to find an advisor near you.
