RBC Wealth Management Names Wally Chapman Minneapolis Complex Director

MINNEAPOLIS (March 3, 2015) – RBC Wealth Management-U.S. today named Wally Chapman director of its 142-person Minneapolis complex.

Chapman, currently branch director for RBC Wealth Management’s Edina office, assumed his new role on March 1. He succeeds Kevin Ketelsleger, who has served as Minneapolis complex director since 2002.

"Wally Chapman is a terrific leader and a great partner,” Ketelsleger said. “I take great comfort in knowing I am leaving the people I care about in his capable hands."

Before starting a career in financial services in 1988, Chapman played hockey for the University of Minnesota, where he was captain of the team, and for a minor league team in New York. He joined RBC Wealth Management in 1995. Today, in addition to his leadership role at RBC Wealth Management, he is heavily involved in the local community and serves on the board of Hospitality House Youth Development.

“I look forward to building on the great work Kevin has done during his time as Minneapolis complex director,” Chapman said. “I will do my best to continue the positive momentum he has created.”

Under Ketelsleger’s leadership, client assets in the Minneapolis complex, which includes branches in Minneapolis, Minnetonka and Wayzata, have grown considerably -- increasing 75 percent over the past five years alone.

In conjunction with Wally’s transition to Minneapolis complex director, Tom Schulenberg will take on the role of branch director in Edina, effective March 1. Tom currently leads the Wayzata office where he has been branch director since 2005.

RBC traces its Minnesota roots back to 1909, when Kalman & Co. was formed in St. Paul. This small brokerage firm formed the nucleus of a company that would become one of the largest wealth managers in the nation. Through continuous growth and acquisitions, the firm evolved over the years to become Dain Rauscher and was eventually acquired by Royal Bank of Canada in 2000.

RBC Wealth Management’s financial advisors serve nearly 30,000 Minnesota clients and with more than $16 billion in assets. The Twin Cities account for the greatest share of the firm’s Minnesota business.
