ASSISTANT COMPLEX MANAGER RICHARD GRUBE RECEIVES RBC WEALTH MANAGEMENT VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Annandale volunteer firefighter honored for his service to the community

ANNANDALE, N.J. (March 12, 2013) – RBC Wealth Management Assistant Complex Manager Richard Grube received the company’s 2012 Dick McFarland Volunteer of the Year award for 11 years of service as an Annandale volunteer firefighter. Richard will be honored at a reception on Wednesday, March 13, at the company’s headquarters in Minneapolis. As a part of his award, RBC Wealth Management will make a $1,000 contribution to Grube’s charity of choice.

The RBC Foundation - USA Dick McFarland Volunteer of the Year Award is named for the former CEO and chairman of the firm. Through his personal involvement with various non-profit organizations McFarland impacted local communities and set an example of volunteerism within the firm.

As the son of a fireman, Richard Grube admired their service and commitment to the community. After settling in Hunterdon County in 2002, he joined Annandale Hose Company #1 as a volunteer. During his time as a volunteer firefighter he has served as president, chairman of the Ways and Means committee, chairman of the Annual Banquet committee, and a member of numerous truck committees where fire apparatus specifications were made and inspection trips taken to Wisconsin. Currently, he serves as lieutenant in charge of accountability, fire report submission and reporting. In addition, he actively promotes and provides information on volunteerism.

“Since I became a volunteer firefighter I have responded to countless emergency calls,” said Grube. “It is rewarding to know I have personally made a difference in the lives of people in my community,”

This year, Grube was a responder during Superstorm Sandy and was awarded a merit badge for his contributions to the residents of Clinton Township. In 2012, he played a significant role in the construction of a 9/11 memorial on the grounds of the fire house in honor of those that served and died on that fateful September morning.

“Richard has always gone above and beyond the call of duty since he joined in 2003,” said Marc Strauss, Annandale fire chief. “He is a true asset to the fire company and to the residents he serves.” Grube was nominated by his colleague, Marc Lav, who praised Richard’s professional and volunteer efforts. “Richard has been a volunteer firefighter for many years which has made a difference in many peoples’ lives,” said Lav. “I feel he is most deserving of this award.”

Grube has worked at RBC Wealth Management for 10 years. In his role as Florham Park assistant complex manager, he enforces adherence to all regulatory, firm, complex and branch procedures and ensures that issues and concerns are resolved in a timely manner. He is a member of the company’s Policy and Procedure Committee and sits on the board for RBC Foundation-USA to help make decisions about grant requests. Grube resides in Annandale with his wife Cindy and four children, Nicole, Emily, George and Kyle. In his spare time he enjoys gardening and making homemade wine.
